Bliss
Everyone wants to be happy. Too often, though, we depend upon external factors for our happiness. We think we need a reason to be happy. The only way to liberate oneself from this dependently-existing happiness is the practice of bliss. One doesn't need a reason to feel bliss. Unlike the happiness that is experienced conceptually in the mind, bliss is a direct perception in the body.
Tantrayana Buddhism often uses the body to reach the clear light mind. Achieving this clear light state is easier and faster when we do it by working with the body. That is what's special about Tantrayana. In this retreat, Tulku Lobsang teaches us how to create physical bliss through bodily movements, visualization and breathing techniques. This physical bliss dissolves all conceptual thoughts. Only the perceptual mind remains. This means we've reached the bliss of the mind, or the “Clear Light” mind. This is the highest goal in Tantrayana because through the bliss of the mind, we discover the true nature of our mind.
The more bliss we feel, the less we distinguish between 'I' and ‘you.’ Feelings of attachment, desire and anger are reduced, which also leads to our negative emotions becoming smaller and smaller. The practice of bliss is simply the best technique to overcome all negative emotions.
