Most people say that their relationship is based on love. However, in many cases, the relationship is really based on desire. This is clear when the relationship is completely happy only in the beginning, 50% happiness and 50% pain in the middle, and by the end it is complete suffering. When our concepts of relationship and marriage are based on the same ideas as desire and property, this relationship can destroy our love and make us unhappy.
We must remember that love always makes us happy. Love is the only way to be happy! Without love, happiness doesn’t exist. It is very important to love someone. To love someone means we open that person’s heart. At the same time, we open our own heart.
Therefore, it is good to think about our own ideas and concepts and to reflect on them. Awareness of our concepts makes it possible for us not to lose love in our daily lives. Instead, love will free us from problems, make us happy and lead us to bliss.
In this teaching, Tulku Lobsang compares the true nature of love and relationships with our concepts of them. This creates an interesting perspective, which reveals the root of the problems common in our relationships. With great humor accompanied by a focus on the essentials, Tulku Lobsang shows us simple methods for cultivating and maintaining the love in our relationships.
