UNFORTUNATELY, THE TEACHINGS AND THE PILGRIMAGE HAD TO BE POSTPONED TO MAY 2021 DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS (SARS-CoV-2).
One of the most meaningful journeys a Buddhist can make is a pilgrimage. It is a means for accumulating merit and for opening one‘s heart and mind to accept whatever may come. This pilgrimage is especially auspicious because we make it together with our precious teacher, Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche. It is a truly rare gift for any student to be able to make a pilgrimage with their teacher.
During this pilgrimage, Rinpoche will be teaching Lu Jong – Tibetan Healing Yoga and Meditation. Lu Jong is an ancient Tibetan practice. The physical exercises were developed to activate the body's own self-healing powers on a physical level. The teachings during the pilgrimage will offer the special opportunity to study and practice Lu Jong with Tulku Lobsang himself within the unique conditions only as ancient and rich a kingdom as Bhutan can nestle us in. Rinpoche will focus on the wonderful symbiosis of Lu Jong and meditation. Through intensive joint practice we can experience first-handedly the profound effect of Lu Jong and meditation on our body and mind.
In addition, we will also be given the precious and once-in-a-lifetime chance to receive a Medicine Buddha Empowermentas well as Mahamudra Teachings by His Holiness Kyapgon Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche.
His Holiness is the reincarnation of the great Yogi Rigzin Jinpa Gyaltsen - the holder of the secret doctrines - and one of the highest Buddhist Masters in Bhutan. He had been the Master of Philosophy and Logic at Bumthang Monastery since he was forty-five years old. He later chose to live a life of simple renunciation in a small hut where he meditates and practices. As a result of his unwavering practice, he has brought great benefit to the Bhutanese community. Among the many masters and teachers who have been instructed, taught and empowered by him, is also Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche – who will be introducing us to him: what an honor!
The practice of Medicine Buddha, or ‘The Supreme Healer’ (Sangye Menla in the Tibetan language) is not only a very powerful method for healing and increasing healing powers both for oneself and others but also for overcoming the interior ailments of attachment, hatred and ignorance, as well as eliminating obstacles to good health, happiness, longevity and harmony.
Mahamudra, or Chagyachenpo in Tibetan, refers to the true nature of our mind or the essence of our mind. It is the heart essence of all the teachings of the Buddha, since recognizing the essence of our mind is essential to liberate us from the endless cycle of samsara. Receiving Mahamudra instructions from an authentic meditation master and practicing accordingly is deeply beneficial for those aspiring to achieve enlightenment.
This pilgrimage leads us to the perfect place for practicing Lu Jong and Meditation as well as receiving the Medicine Buddha Empowerment in addition to Mahamudra Teachings: Bhutan, or the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Perched high on the mighty Himalayan range, the kingdom of Bhutan has defied globalization and chosen to remain a hidden paradise: having retained its pristine environment, it is home to exotic wildlife and the last bastion of Mahayana Buddhism with its sacred monasteries sitting precariously on sheer cliffs.
Happiness is a place, after all – and this place will significantly and meaningfully contribute and enhance our joint practice times, while opening our hearts and letting our personalities thrive.
Places are limited to a maximum of 65 pilgrims.
