The practice of Tummo-Bliss is a powerful way to liberate ourselves from the heavily dependent version of happiness that we are used to. We normally depend upon external factors for our happiness: we think we need a reason to be happy. But we do not need a reason to experience Bliss. Unlike happiness that is experienced conceptually in the mind, Tummo-Bliss is direct perception through the body.
The practice of Tummo is the first one and therefore the foundation of the “Six Yogas of Naropa” - a comprehensive collection of advanced practices of Tibetan Tantrayana Buddhism intended to lead to Buddhahood in an accelerated manner. Tummo is our wisdom fire. It is something we naturally have within our bodies. Through a combination of movements, breathing techniques and visualizations we generate the Tummo flame and spread it throughout the body. Through the practice, the flame grows, starting from below the navel and rising higher and higher. This inner warmth melts the body’s subtle energy drops causing an experience of physical Bliss. The more Bliss we feel, the less we distinguish between ‘I’ and ‘you.’ Feelings of attachment, desire and anger are significantly reduced, allowing for our negative emotions to gradually decrease.
In this retreat, Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche will focus on this Bliss part of the Tummo practice. Rinpoche has an exceptional connection to Tummo, it is his true speciality. Rinpoche has received Tummo teachings and transmissions from different lineages and his deep understanding of this powerful practice makes him an incredibly skillful, wise and compassionate teacher. Tulku-la shares this secret practice openly, because he believes it can bring great benefit in these challenging times.

Tummo-Bliss praksisen er en kraftfull måte å frigjøre oss fra vår vante lykke som er sterkt avhengig av noe. Vi er vanligvis avhengig av ytre faktorer for vår lykke: vi tror vi trenger en grunn til å være lykkelige. Men vi trenger ingen grunn for å oppleve Bliss. I motsetning til lykke som oppleves konseptuelt i sinnet, er Tummo-Bliss direkte opplevd gjennom kroppen.
Utøvelsen av Tummo er den første og derfor grunnlaget for "Six Yogas of Naropa" - en omfattende samling av avanserte praksiser i tibetansk Tantrayana-buddhisme, som er ment å føre til absolutt opplysthet, såkalla Buddhahood, på en rask måte.
Tummo er vår visdomsflamme. Det er noe vi naturlig har i kroppen. Gjennom en kombinasjon av bevegelser, pusteteknikker og visualiseringer, genererer vi Tummo- flammen og sprer den i hele kroppen. Gjennom øvelsene vokser flammen, starter fra under navlen og stiger høyere og høyere. Denne indre varmen smelter kroppens subtile energidråper og forårsaker en opplevelse av fysisk lykke.
Jo mer lykkefølelse vi kjenner, jo mindre skiller vi mellom ‘jeg’ og ‘deg.’ Følelser av tilknytning, lyst og sinne reduseres betydelig, noe som gjør at de negative følelsene våre gradvis reduseres.
I dette retreatet vil Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche fokusere på Bliss i denne Tummo- praksisen. Rinpoche har en spesiell tilknytning til Tummo, som er hans sanne spesialitet. Rinpoche har mottatt Tummo-lære og overføringer fra forskjellige retninger i Buddhismen, og hans dype forståelse av denne kraftigfulle praksisen gjør ham til en utrolig dyktig, klok og medfølende lærer.
