The practice of Tummo is the first one and therefore the foundation of the “Six Yogas of Naropa” - a comprehensive collection of advanced practices of Tibetan Tantrayana Buddhism intended to lead to Buddhahood in an accelerated manner.

Tummo is our wisdom fire. It is something we naturally have within our bodies. Through a combination of movements, breathing techniques and visualizations we generate the Tummo flame and spread it throughout the body. On a physical level the Tummo fire increases our self-healing powers. On an energetic level, it surges energy throughout our body. On the level of mind, Tummo is the source of love, joy, happiness and bliss.

Through the practice, the flame grows, starting from below the navel and rising higher and higher. This inner warmth softly penetrates each of the main chakras, spreading to all the branches and every pore of our body. Our chakras are secret doors through which we can access our bliss body (Sambhogakaya) and our clear light mind (Dharmakaya). Tummo is the key to open these secret doors. Entering through those doors means that we find our true home inside ourselves: we reach our innate Buddha nature - the perfect union of ultimate love and compassion.

This Retreat is the best opportunity for those who wish to begin their Tummo practice or even reconnect and deepen their fundamental practice to prepare for deeper practices like Tummo-Bliss or Tummo-Non Conceptional State of Mind.

Death is one of the most important happenings in our life. We will all face death, no matter who we are. We know this and yet somehow we forget. Perhaps it is because of our fear of the unknown that we often pretend that death does not exist.

But, according to the Buddhist teachings, death is an opportunity. It is the moment when we can be in our true nature—the clear light state of mind.
Death is not only something that happens on the outside (people see us as dead), but it is also something that happens on the inside. It is an experience of the body and mind. Buddhism explains this experience in detail. The elements that compose our body and mind dissolve into each other one by one. Each dissolution produces a particular mental state. This may seem very foreign, but in fact we experience this every 24 hours. This is called the “little death” and it happens when we fall asleep. The way that we fall asleep is exactly the way that we will die. We can use the little death to train ourselves and learn to navigate this experience. This is how we prepare for a fearless death.

If we can learn how to recognize and abide in the clear light state of mind that happens at death, it will have a profound impact on our next life. In the state between life and death, called Bardo, all kinds of things can appear and provoke our emotions. This is exactly like a dream. It is not real, but it feels real and it creates real reactions in us. We must learn to recognize this dream and maintain a calm, clear mind, for this is when it matters most.

A morte é um dos acontecimentos mais importantes da nossa vida. Todos enfrentaremos a morte, não importa quem sejamos. Sabemos disso e ainda assim nos esquecemos. Talvez seja por causa do nosso medo do desconhecido que muitas vezes fingimos que a morte não existe.
Mas, de acordo com os ensinamentos budistas, a morte é uma oportunidade. É um dos momentos em que podemos estar em nossa verdadeira natureza – o estado mental da clara luz.
A morte não é apenas algo que acontece externamente (as pessoas nos reconhecerem como mortos), mas também é algo que acontece internamente. É uma experiência do corpo e da mente. O budismo explica essa experiência em detalhes esclarecendo que os elementos que compõem nosso corpo e mente se dissolvem um por um. Cada dissolução produz um estado mental particular. Isto pode parecer novo, mas na verdade vivenciamos esse processo a cada 24 horas. Isso é chamado de “pequena morte” e acontece sempre que adormecemos. A maneira como adormecemos é exatamente a maneira como morreremos. Podemos usar a pequena morte para nos treinar e aprender a navegar nesta experiência. É assim que nos preparamos para uma morte destemida. Se pudermos aprender como reconhecer e permanecer no estado mental de clara luz que acontece na morte, isso terá um impacto profundo na nossa próxima vida.
No estado entre a vida e a morte, chamado Bardo, todo tipo de coisa pode se manifestar e provocar nossas emoções. Isto é exatamente como um sonho. Não é real, mas parece real e cria reações reais em nós. Devemos aprender a reconhecer este sonho e a manter uma mente calma e clara, pois neste momento isto é o que mais importa.

Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche himself developed the Tog Chöd – Wisdom Sword Practice. It is based on the traditional Tibetan meditation techniques of the Yaman monk dances and Kalachakra movements, but created in direct response to the needs of the modern world: It is a practice that releases us from our conceptual mind and connects us with our power and the present moment.

Tog Chöd uses powerful physical movements with a wooden sword to work with our emotions. The sword symbolizes our own innate wisdom. Wielding the sword, we cut through our conceptual mind. We cut our thoughts of fear and expectations that keep us from being in this beautiful present moment.
The practice enables us to transform our negative emotions, to dissolve our mental imprints and to truly live in the present moment.
In this workshop, Rinpoche will give us an introduction to this powerful and transformational practice.

O próprio Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche desenvolveu o Tog Chöd – Espada da Sabedoria. Esta prática tem suas bases nas técnicas tradicionais de meditação tibetana das danças dos monges Yaman e dos movimentos Kalachakra, mas foi criada em resposta direta às necessidades do mundo moderno: é uma prática que nos liberta da nossa mente conceitual e nos liga ao nosso poder interior e ao momento presente.

Tog Chöd usa movimentos físicos poderosos com uma espada de madeira para trabalhar com nossas emoções. A espada simboliza nossa própria sabedoria inata. Empunhando a espada, cortamos nossa mente conceitual. Cortamos nossos pensamentos de medo e expectativas que nos impedem de estar neste belo momento presente. Lu Jong and Shiné are both ancient Tibetan practices. Lu Jong works with the body, Shiné, the Traditional Tibetan Shamatha Meditation, with the mind. Practicing Lu Jong and Shiné together has a profound effect on our body and mind and is an incredibly powerful way to really change ourselves.
Through the combination of position, movement and breath Lu Jong opens the channels in the body, releases blockages and mobilizes misdirected energy. Our mind becomes clear and calm. That’s the reason why meditating is much easier for us after having practiced Lu Jong.

Lu Jong consists of physical exercises, developed to activate the body’s own self-healing powers on a physical level. On the mental level, the exercises aid to overcome our negative emotions, such as anger and jealousy, to achieve emotional balance and increase our energy. On the energetic, level Lu Jong can release blockages of the subtle body channels, thereby restoring and mobilizing a more natural flow of energies.

Shiné is a practice which is peaceful and powerful at the same time. It aims to calm our mind and train it in a way so that it transforms from its usual active and agitated state into a calm and clear one that gradually allows for awareness to arise. As a result, our mind becomes more peaceful and less disturbed by both internal factors like thoughts and emotions, and external factors, like a stressful environment.

This Retreat offers the special opportunity to study and practice Lu Jong and Shiné with Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche who will focus on the wonderful symbiosis of these powerful Tibetan techniques. Through intensive joint practice we can experience ourselves first-handedly the profound effect of Lu Jong and Shiné on our body and mind.

Como resultado, nossa mente fica mais tranquila e menos perturbada tanto por fatores internos, como pensamentos e emoções, quanto por fatores externos, como um ambiente estressante.
