- Can I receive Empowerment if I cannot attend the event live?
If you want to receive Empowerment, you must receive it live.
- What if I do not have a Buddhist mala?
You do NOT need the mala in order to receive Empowerment or for the recitation of the mantra. It is merely a support.
- What if I did not manage to avoid alcohol, onion, garlic and non-vegetarian food on the day of the Empowerment?
Participants are highly encouraged to avoid the above mentioned foods and drinks. If you did not manage to avoid them, you can still participate. In this case you are recommended to clean your mouth and teeth very well before the Empowerment.
- I've already received Medicine Buddha Empowerment before. Does it make sense to receive it again?
Yes. Empowerment repairs violated and broken samayas, it prevents obstacles and errors from arising, and it allows our attainments to develop more and more. Therefore it absolutely makes sense to receive Empowerment again and again.
- Do I have to take any commitments (samayas)?
It would be ideal to commit to remembering the deity at least once a day and to try to visualize all outer forms as the deity, all sounds as the mantra and all forms of mind as the wisdom mind. However, if you cannot commit to this Samaya, you can take this Empowerment as a blessing without commitment, which means you take Empowerment only for the blessing and in order to make a connection. Seeds are planted in the field of our consciousness, and these seeds will slowly grow.
- My root guru is neither His Holiness Kyapgon Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche nor Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche. Is this a reason for not attending this Empowerment?
In Tibetan Buddhism it is very common to receive teachings and Empowerments from different masters. His Holiness Kyapgon Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche is a very renowned Vajra Master and it is a very precious opportunity to receive Empowerment by His Holiness.

His Holiness Kyapgon Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche is Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche’s teacher and one of the highest Buddhist masters in Bhutan. It is a great honor and joy that His Holiness is giving this Online Live Empowerment.
Empowerment is a ritual in Vajrayana Buddhism which empowers us to engage in the particular spiritual practices we receive Empowerment for. This way, we can receive blessings and accomplishments through those practices. The function of Empowerment is to ripen our Buddha Nature. It can only be granted by qualified Vajra Masters.
According to the teachings of the Buddha, all human illnesses – both physical and mental – are caused by desire, anger and ignorance. With the power and blessings of the Medicine Buddha we can overcome all illnesses and suffering. While still being a bodhisattva, the Medicine Buddha made twelve definite aspirations, named twelve great vows, that expressed the specific ways in which he sought to benefit beings. The dispelling of ignorance, sicknesses and physical suffering of sentient beings is contained as the key message of all these aspirations. Still today, as an enlightened being, the Medicine Buddha is continuously benefitting innumerable sentient beings through his twelve great vows.
Receiving Medicine Buddha Empowerment will enable the devoted participants to practice with the blessing of the Medicine Buddha and to rely on the Medicine Buddha as a patron deity to become just like him. It is believed that merely hearing the name of the Medicine Buddha has immense benefit, therefore we need not have any doubt about the immense benefit of receiving an actual Empowerment.
His Holiness has received this Empowerment himself from various realized masters and has put it into serious practice. As a result, His Holiness has developed the immense healing power of shedding the veil of ignorance and igniting the precious seed of bodhicitta in the hearts of those who receive his teachings.
During this Empowerment – which belongs to both, the tradition of Sutrayana and Tantrayana Buddhism – the participants will also be taken through the Medicine Buddha sadhana practice text.
An incredibly precious opportunity!
About His Holiness Kyapgon Ngawang Tenzin Rinpoche
His Holiness is the reincarnation of the great Yogi Rigzin Jinpa Gyaltsen — the holder of the secret doctrines. Rinpoche had been the master of Philosophy and Logic of the Punakha Monastic Body since he was forty-five years old. For 10 years, His Holiness also held the highly esteemed position of Dorji Lopon, or “Vajra Master”, heading the Vajracarya division of the Central Monastic Body. Later Rinpoche chose to live a life of simple renunciation in a small hut to meditate and practice in seclusion.
As a result of unwavering practice, His Holiness’ level of understanding and experience have thrived and his insights and realizations have expanded immeasurably. Rinpoche has brought great benefit to the Bhutanese community and has given many masters and teachers direct instructions in empowerment, transmission and teaching of Mahamudra, the Six Doctrines of Naropa and Dzogchen.
