During our life we pass about 240.000 hours sleeping. This is precious time that can be used to develop our spiritual practice. By the term dream meditation we understand the practice of lucid dreaming. This means that we aware of what we dreaming while we dream. Through this practice we learn how to use our dreams for spiritual practice.
First we need to recognize during our dreams that we are dreaming - for being then able, in the second step, to control our dream. In this state of mind we can evoke willingly situations which cause us problems in daily life. And then live them with a prior unknown ease. If we dream consciously, we can learn in the dream to evoke difficulties of our daily life and learn how to handle them. Body postures, mantras and visualizations are learned which prepare lucid dreaming.
When we are awake we know that a dream is just illusion. Yet, somehow, when we are in the illusion we don’t know that it is illusion. Our consciousness is so confused, so changeable! Through the practice of Dream Yoga we can learn to recognize the illusion. This helps us to understand that even our waking life is illusion.
With a combination of mantras and visualization techniques, dream meditation enables us to maintain awareness in our dreams in order to use them to our benefit. We can affect the dream in ways that shed light on the ultimate nature of reality and of the mind. For example, we can make small objects big and big object small. We can multiple objects and then unify them. We can change our body and transform it—like giving ourselves one hundred arms. We can see deities and make them disappear again.Although what is seen in a dream is not real, what is experienced is real—fear, joy, etc. Not recognizing these experiences as illusion creates suffering. So by learning how to understand illusion, we develop ourselves and our happiness in significant ways.

Pod pojmom „joga a meditácia sna“ chápeme čisté a zároveň v istom zmysle riadené snívanie počas spánku.
Najskôr musíme mysľou počas sna rozpoznať, že spíme a snívame, aby sme potom boli schopní v druhom kroku pozorovať a riadiť náš sen.
Kombináciou mantier a vizualizačných techník nám snová meditácia umožní zachovať si počas snov vedomie a využiť ich vo svoj prospech. Vieme ich ovplyvniť, vieme zväčšiť či zmenšiť predmety, vieme ich znásobiť alebo zjednotiť, vieme zmeniť naše telo, pretransformovať ho do inej podoby, môžeme mu dať hoci sto rúk.
